Stormwater Precast Drainage
Project Overview
An critical infrastructure project involving the installation of 2.5 kilometers of reinforced precast stormwater box drains along major arterial roads, replacing old damaged open brick drains to prevent urban waterlogging.
Scope of Civil Works
- Site clearing, excavation of drainage trench, and removal of old structures.
- Laying a 150mm compacted crushed stone leveling bed.
- Transportation, alignment, and installation of M30 precast concrete box segments.
- Sealing joints using expandable polyurethane sealants and bitumen wraps.
- Backfilling and restoring the road shoulders.
Technical Challenges Faced
Executing deep trench excavation in an active high-traffic area (Gachibowli-Kondapur road corridor) without disrupting vehicular movement or damaging underground optical fiber and water lines.
Engineering Solutions Deployed
We mapped underground lines using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) before excavation. To minimize lane closures, we used precast drainage blocks which were assembled at night. Each section was excavated, laid, backfilled, and paved in 6-hour blocks, ensuring the road was fully open every morning.
